Province located in the central region of Cuba, that limits the north with the Atlantic Ocean, to the east with Sancti Spíritus, the west with Slaughters and the south with Cienfuegos.

Its population is of 824 825 inhabitants (1996) distributed in thirteen municipalities and the extension of its 309.6 territory is of 8 km2. It occupies the fifth place between the provinces of the country by his extension and the quarter by his population. Its capital is the city of Santa Clara.

Its relief is characterized by the heights of the North of Central Cuba, the plain of Manacas and the heights of Santa Clara and her peak altitude are of 473 ms. Its hydrography is represented by the Sagua rivers the Great one, Sagua the Girl and the dam Scorpions.
